Just saw, touched, felt, drooled over, took pictures of, measured and generally dragged my jaw around the garage of a friend of mine. She drew a Mt. Dutton tag, and without any regard to little ol' me, punched a monstrous bull yesterday morning. I think she made me go shoot a booner antelope just so I'd miss all the fun with her bull! I'd love to post some pics, but I'm sworn to secrecy at the request of the hunter.

I am allowed to say that if all of us are measuring it correctly, it grosses over 397. Beautiful 7X7 with two twisting dropper extras. Very symmetrical and good mass, it still smells like the pinyon it haunted.

I was able to see this bull also and it is impressive. It might be the new state record for a woman. It is a bull that many of us could only dream about. It is definitely the bull of a lifetime. Pictures will be out soon but committments were made with others and soon you will all be able to watch the stalk and kill on the outdoor channel. Congrats to Jill, her bull is a slammer.

It wasn't a Mt. Dutton bull though. It was taken off another unit in Southern Utah.

Isn't it just like a women to tell you all this juicy information and then tell you can't see it!!!. Thanks for the tease Pred. LOL!........I'm not going to beg!!!

Could this be true that Pred is not providing full disclosure about the origins of the bull? :7

My bad. I thought it was Dutton! Geez, Rut, good thing I didn't go down there, I thought I was going to Dutton!

Oh, and BTW, NTHERUT killed a heckuva stickflipper bull off the same unit.

*groan* I am so far behind in bonus points, I don't believe I'll ever draw a Utah tag. Kinda sad to think I might never hunt a LE unit in my own home state.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-04 AT 11:40AM (MST)[p]Okay, I do have permission to post the measurements. So here ya go, and keep in mind I am not an official measurer, so perhaps I am wrong.

No of pts- 8 Abnormal points left- 1@10 1/8
Tip to Tip- 33 Abnormal points right- 1 at 12 3/4
Greatest- 59 3/8
Inside spread- 41

Main beam 52 1/4 51 1/4
G-1 17 7/8 16 1/8
G-2 13 15 3/8
G-3 16 7/8 17

H-1 8 1/4 9
H-2 7 1/8 7
H-3 6 5/8 7

As you can see, the bull is pretty darn symmetrical. It nets high enough to make both the Typical and Non-Typical category!

Sorry about the squished numbers, I didn't type it that way!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-20-04 AT 12:27PM (MST)[p]King, I cannot post on a site. Jill has commitments to a national television show as well as a magazine. I can send it privately, however, but you must understand that it cannot be posted until the commitments are met.

You can definitely look forward to seeing the whole hunt on film by next year!

I only have one day to share, Jill also has the same moose tag that I had in '01, and we're heading out to Idaho to try to another book animal for her!

Lisa,

Glad to hear that Jill did so well. Now Im going to have to hear about from Pat when I shoot one smaller than hers. I cant believe her luck this year, drawing the elk tag and the moose tag. Pat was telling me that they had seen quite a few good ones down there.

Im not back to work for another week or so....so if you have time, shoot me an email with the pic....I'd love to see it....and you know I wont let it out to anyone else.....Pat would kill me if I did.

I just re-read NTHERUT's post about it not being a Dutton bull...??? Im almost positive that it was.....but who knows, I could be wrong.

If it wansn't the Dutton then another one was shot by a wonman that my friend who guided her thinks might be a new record by a woman.

Heck everyone knows there are NO LARGE bulls on the Dutton, they are all on the monroe or on the Beaver or on fishlake or San Juan or Indian peaks. Could be large Bulls are where you find them. LMAO.

I saw it at my taxidermist shop. It is impressive, but did not look over 390. We had my brothers bull, 6X6 just over 360 laying next to it, and his looked bigger, but it does have about 15" on it's 6ths and 24" on the cheaters so that nearly 40" more than my brothers, so yes I would say it will nearly go 400. The cheaters kind of curl like a corkscrew, awesome bull. And it was off of Dutton.
