Well I did not get drawn for anything this year. However my buddy's dad got a trophy unit 10 elk tag that opens this Friday. Well I am going to get to go along and help, watch, cook whatever. I know I will enjoy being the camp cook, I cook dutch oven. I am excited to get out and chase those beasts. I understand the rut is coming on strong and we should be in the midst of some big ones. Just getting out amongst friends and enjoying nature, and the chase is most of what it is all about anyway. Sure I would have preferred to have a tag myself but this is truly the next best thing. Wish us good luck and I will post pictures when I get back.

I make a killer Antelope hash with hand made sour dough bread and ice cold beer! Its one of those no left over type meals. Then we have warm apricot cobbler with ice cream!(21 PEOPLE last year).
This is the camps best meal all cooked in the hot iron! some of the women get a little mad because I out cook them some love me for it!
Some of the hunters eat outta boxes or bags and cans I never could do that! even a pack in trip for a few days we eat like kings! COOK A HEAD AND VACUUM SEAL,PACK!! (YOU COULD EAT LIKE AT MOM'S ON THANKSGIVING EVERYDAY).

It is hard to say what my favorite is because there are sooooo many. This trip (I can only stay 4 nights of which I will cook 3) I am going to make as main dishes, chicken cardon blue, lasagna, and a beef enchilada caserrole. We will have some killer dutch oven patatoes for one dinner, mexican green beans for another and a brocolli cassrole for another. I plan on making apple crisp, dutch oven brownies and carrot cake for desserts. There should be 8 or so in camp. Like I said I can't wait.
