My friend just called me from unit 8 and his client killed a monster with a recurve. Initial measurements say 447"! I'll post more info as it becomes available. The bull has an extra mainbeam over 40" long!

I just thought because KO said "his client" that there was an outfitter/guide involved. Could be a business relationship. Would love to see some pictures. CDN

Here and WOW!!

The bull was killed by a guy from MI with a recurve. The Scott South was the guide and Pete Davis of Southwest Outdoors was the outfitter. The third point on one side measures over 40" plus a cheater.

The pic of the bull I posted was not killed by a guy from michigan. It was killed by Anthony Avalos of Globe AZ. I'm not sure who Scott South is?

I hope were talking about different bulls....that's how rumors get started

You guys may not believe this but last year the bull was 460-480" non-typ. My good friend found the last two years of sheds off this bull. The right antler from last year measures 224" and is missing around 6". The left antler unfortunately was busted off above the G2. There is video of the bull being shot in the flank by an archer last year and it shows the other side quite well I guess. Haven't seen it yet though. If I knew how to post a pic of the shed I would.

I just sent you an e-mail.

Brian
P.S. Josh, your e-mail address is invalid, need to have Brian(founder) upgrade it for you.

G3 is 39", main beam is 59 6/8" and has 10 scorable points. First circumference is 13 6/8" and the 2nd is 10 4/8". Just some stats I thought some of you might like. Typ frame is 205 6/8" and has 18 2/8" of non-typ's

No pictures but this bull is huge. I have personally held the rack. Even if he did not have the abnormal point he would be a huge typical 400 class bull. AWESOME.

I was the very fortunate one to video this bull last year. My dad & I found him on the last tuesday of the hunt. My cousin had the tag & missed this bull twice before grazing him in the hind leg. This was not the first bull he missed & how much time he put in on the range showed(I was not a happy camper).

The video is called "The Dream II" & can be found on this website. I also sell it off of my own site but I am not going to post the address out of respect for Brian & the Monster Muley crew. The video shows the first two shots but I did not get the last shot on film.

The bulls nickname was "Godzilla"! The name says it all. We searched all summer & into the archery hunt for him, as my dad drew a tag. The rains came late & we could not pull him out. I am not sure of the exact location of the kill but I know it was SEVERAL miles from where he was last year. The drought persisted this year as the bull drop 20-30 inches in score!

This is the frame shot off of the video! He was a true giant! We looked hard for him this year & I was very upset when I heard the news. Some things just aren't meant to be...

Craig,
You rule, thanks for the picture! Sorry to hear about not finding him, elk do move a ton though. I hope your dad got a good one anyways.

Finally a picture has been posted! I've seen this bull on the ground with the hunter and guide on video. The guide is a good friend of mine. This is the same bull and it's incredible! They've been keeping things quiet, but it should surface soon. Awesome live pic Craig!!!

By the way...thaks KO for the help on my bow. Congrats on the monster you took!

Craig,

I don't do the "way to go" stuff much, but that has got to be by far the most impressive elk I have ever seen. The horn that elk has compared to his body size is absolutely unbelievable.

Way to go. ;-)

LAST EDITED ON Oct-06-04 AT 08:49AM (MST)[p]These pictures have been copy righted but I don't mind if you show them to your buddies. The giant third will have to be observed by an offical scorer before we know his true score. If it would have held up last year he would have been the NEW NON-TYPICAL WORLD RECORD. On the video we state that the bull would have scored over 420 pts. We knew this was a conservitive estimate but how do you truly judge a bull over 400 or 450 for that matter. I got call from a friend that knows the feller that found the sheds & thats when I confirmed his true size. I don't want anyone to take this wrong but it is to bad one of my team members or the guy that found the sheds was not able to take this animal. I know we looked are @#$ off for him (without flying) & I am sure he did too!

This is a frame just after the bull was missed for the 1ST time. We did not stalk or sit water on this bull. We called him off of his cows. It is not done all of the time but on occasion you can catch one of these big monarchs slipping up.

I don't know the LUCKY hunter that shot the bull but if any of you all do have him give me a call (928)279-5805.

Thanks,
Craig Steele

Craig,
That is some awesome video. Can you imagine if you got that kill on tape. Too bad. I actually talked to you on the phone last year after you contacted me by email when you found out I drew a unit 10 tag. I thought you were going to be hunting 7 last year. How did that go?
Anyway, the hunter of the bull above is from Michigan. He was guided by Scott South, a friend of mine, but the outfitter was Pete Davis of Southwest Outdoors. I imagine that you would want to talk to him if you wanted to talk to him about score and what not.
I held the rack at Pete's house last week and it is awesome. The right side is a huge six point typical other than the split beam. Quite different than the back end on last years shed.
Pictures of the bull are on the wraps probably until they come out with actual score and magazine as you can imagine. Cool to see the sheds and actual bull on the ground though.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-08-04 AT 02:47PM (MST)[p]Craig, give me an email please. It's my good friend Chris that found the past two years of sheds off of him and I'd like to exchange some emails with you. My email is [email protected]
Thanks,
Josh Epperson
