I was told by a guy I work with this morning that some dude named Bob something killed a bull in the 420's this last weekend and his son or buddy got a 375 bull,in same area on the Dutton.... any truth to this rumor or is it just one of those rumors we always here about that dont actually happen... due to someone not knowing how to score properly

I have heard the same rumor. I heard it was killed up by Jones Corral and that he shot it off his 4-wheeler. You never know until you actually see it yourself. But the bull that Paul Fallon killed last year with the broken beam during the muzzleloader hunt was killed just off the main road also. I have yet to see any pictures yet. I heard a 405" bull was killed on the boulders this past weekend. The Utah LE units are producing some huge bulls this year. I wish they would cut back on the rifle tags during the rut. I took a good bull on the archery hunt and I feel bad for those elk during the rifle hunt and during the middle of the rut. They don't have a chance.

I FORGOT THAT PART ABOUT THE 4-WHEELER... SAME RUMOR... WE'LL SEE IF ANY THING COME OF IT...

>I hope not, cause shooting from
>a vehicle is illegal, even
>a atv.

Depends actually. Sitting on the ATV and shooting would be, jumping off and using the rear rack as a rest to shoot from wouldnt be.

I don't know about a 420, but a 380 was shot just a few days ago by a guy who was being guided by McClain Mecham on the unit.

I have to agree, the UT LE units are producing some good looking bulls this year! I have two friends that both harvested 360+ bulls. One off the Manti, one off the Beaver.

Both bulls are VERY heavy and carry their mass all the way back. The Manti bull has some of the heaviest G1s and 2s I've ever seen!

Will be fun to see if or how many 400+ bulls will be taken this year.

Have you guys ever hunted dutton?
Pretty much the only thing you can do for most of that mountain is shoot from the road, The timber is so damn thick accept for a few open meadows.
I want to see this bull!

Is it a true rumor or not? I heard about the 380 bull that Mclain guided the hunter on. Let me just tell you, I have had the privalege to hunt and scout with Mclain Mecham and he is one of the best guys I have ever met. Guys like Mclain are hard to come by. He is a special person and deserves every bit he gets. If any of you ever have the privalege to meet this guy then you will know what I mean. He did something on this years rifle hunt that he should be commended for and it wasn't about money, like most others, it was about helping someone out and doing it because he enjoys doing it. He is a tremendous guy and I wish him the very best in anything he does. They don't make um like him anymore.

As far as shooting from a vehicle goes, in most states it is illegal to use any portion of the vehicle. That goes for the hood or door of a truck, the racks on 4 wheelers, or the seat of the motorcycle. Do it up here in Idaho and they will gladly explain the error of your ways with a ticket. :)

Robb ---- I sure *wish* you were right!! The new UT state record would have been awesome. But mine was just a dinky 365" 6 point, that's all. LOL!! Oh, and I hate to break it to you guys....but I actually didn't run it down with a 4 wheeler either. Too funny!! Just spotted him, slipped in close enough to cut him and his cows off on their way to bed, and put a snuffer thru his lungs. That was about it!! I'd post a picture but not sure how to. Robb, if I didn't email you a picture already I apologize, but I'll do it now. You can put the picture on here if you want to. --Bob E.

Bob,

You must be the guy that was guided by Doyle Moss and killed the good bull that we heard about. Congrats to you on killing a tremendous archery bull.
