This is a follow-up to an earlier post promising more photos, so here they are!!

For those of you that didn't catch the earlier post, this was a self guided hunt with 2 friends (Jason and Jeff) that helped me out. I owe them a million thanks. This bull was the end result of many days spent in the field scouting, hours pouring over maps, and tons of determination. I had several factors pushing me to achieve this and I must say I am more than pleased with the result. I shot the monster on the 3rd day of the hunt (day after that HUGE September storm) in the evening. Jeff was doing the calling, Jason the video taping, and all I had to do was shoot. Jeff called the bull in using a bugle (Primos Hyper-Plate I believe??) and a Primos Hyper-Lip single. The Hyper-Lip Single sealed the deal. It was a 30 yard shot, quartering toward me a little.

I am working on putting the story together of the whole day that led up to taking this bull. I must say it was one of the most incredible days hunting ever. The best thing is we have the days events on video!!

Thanks again guys!! This is something I will never forget.

A big thanks to my wife for being so understanding, keeping our life running (including our 4 and 6 year olds), putting up with the hunting items in every room of the house, and the Cabelas orders arriving once a week. I really didn't do much except work and scout. She even put herself through Real Estate school in the middle of it all!!!

Dustin,

Congrats on an amazing bull and on an even more amazing wife, I'm sure you realize that without her you may well not have taken such a fine bull. Hats off to both of you.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-24-04 AT 06:37PM (MST)[p]How about 417 gross...401 net non-typical.(I finally had him green scored!!)

Congrats.......called him in even, that makes it just a little more exciting. How many times did you shake your arrow off the rest before you got it to full draw? Ha!!! Nice bull.

I had no time to shake...it happened so fast. One minute we were still hunting slowly creeping along, stopping every 20 minutes or so to call, next thing we know he is screaming at us from 75 yards and coming fast. Next thing I knew he was standing right in front of me. It's probably a good thing I didn't have long to look at him!!

bask in the memories of that one for a long time. That Bull really is once in a lifetime. I think that it's awesome you got him with the bow!!!! Thats the best part to me. You gotta be proud!

You are correct, it is truly a bull of a lifetime. It still does not seem real to me, it is simply amazing. I am very proud I must admit. I put in a lot of work and sacrificed about 3 months being away from the family. I have a 4 year-old son and a 6 year-old daughter that mean the world to me and I think being away from the family was the hardest part. I just can't wait to start hunting with them!!
