I'm considering an archery elk hunt in area 38 (BigHorns) next season. I was wandering how this years archery season went? I'd like to here from a few fellow archers that hunted this area, or other areas on the Big Horn. THANKS...........

Hey, The Bighorns is not the place to go bowhunting. Too many people drive the roads and it gets out of control. Its not what hunting should be. From the past we park our truck and hiked around 3 miles away and then we went into this meadow and there was another road. If you don't like road hunting the Bighorns isn't the place to go. Some good Wyoming areas, are 51-Crandal, and other places like Elks Fork, Sunlight, and Dead Indian. Hope you have luck on your up coming hunts. I live in Powell, Wy. and the areas up around Yellowstone National Park produce some huge bulls. On Oct. 19, 2004 someone from COdy, Wy and he took at 374bc elk up by eaglecreek another excellent hunting spot.

I heard a lady bagged a 400 class bull this year in the Big Horns. Supposedly it was a 9 x 11. Don't know if the points are correct, but I know a 400 class bull was taken up there. Can't remember if it was with a bow or not.

The bull was so huge it made me almost want to cry that she got it and I didn't. Go area 35 or 36 for big bulls during the archery season.
