It was a rem700 300RUM, shot him at 300yrs. It was my first elk so I got nervous when he didnt go down. Second shot was a little far back, but it did the job.

Thanks guys. I was more than happy with him, as you can tell with my smile. I took him down in Southern Colorado. We aged him at about 4-5 years, based on his teeth. There were some real monsters down there. He was one of the smaller bulls we were hunting, but the winds kept blowing our stalks. My parnter took a 355 first day. I shot him on the last day, but it was all worth it in the end.

Thats a great looking bull. I love those long thirds. This picture may be a little deceiving, but I think he scores a lot better than the 280-290, people have been guessing. I would put him in the 310-320 range.

If I was to take an uneducated poke, I too would put him 310-320. I know what a 271 and 298 bull is and he is bigger. Real comparable with the 298 one other than your bull has much better 1,2, and 3's.

I have to agree with Tuff, this bull is bigger than you guys think, he's not real strong up top, but the 1's 2's and 3's will score well--he'll be right close to 315-320 gross. Pull a tape on him and let us know--great bull!

I put the tape to a 330 and a 340 this weekend, and I think this bull is in that ballpark. The killer is the weak 5's, but the rest is superb. I'm gonna go with 46-48" beams and 40+ width, which should push him up to 336" gross.
