I am thinking about taking another fall of in Montana from college so i have all of it to hunt. I did this back in 2002 with a buddy and am now thinking about doing it again. I missed the 2004 season cause i am in this lil iraqy thing. I just cant decide if i should go right back to college and hunt weekends, or if i should take the fall off and hunt all the time. I still would do summer school. Hmmmmmm Hard choice huh. Dam Elk

YOU CAN PERSONALLY NEVER HUNT 'TOO MUCH'!!!

SOME WILL DISAGREE!!!

THE ONLY SIGNS OF HUNTING TOO MUCH HAPPENS IN UTAH,FROM MID AUGUST THROUGH JANUARY THERE ARE CONTINUOUS AND OVERLAPPED HUNTS GOING NON-STOP,YES THE GAME HERDS CATCH HELL FOR A VERY LONG PERIOD OF TIME,I LIKE TO HUNT AS MUCH AS ANYONE BUT THIS IS OUT OF HAND AND YES I KNOW SOME OF YOU WANTING YOUR 5-6 MONTH OPPORTUNITIES WILL DISAGREE,I DON'T CARE!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING LIKE THE DWR,HUNT,HUNT,HUNT!!!

You could sign up for classes in the fall an d pay all of that money, then skip them all, because the best education can be found out in the woods. It helps if you have a good friend you can borrow notes from. Thanks Hornseeker!

Stay in school and hunt when you can. Then with your degree get a good job where you will earn enough to be able to go on hunts all over the country. Once you get out of the school mode it is real hard to start back agin.

Listen to bigpig. I did what you're talking about nearly every fall. Now 15 years later still no degree. Don't fall for the trap. It will be worth it and over before you know it.

The only sure sign of hunting too much is when you start growing your own set of antlers!!! LOL
Lots of wisdom in the last few posts...Get your degree, get a good job, then gets lots of time to hunt!!!!

A bad day hunting is better than a Good Day at Work!!

I think when you get to where you come home from hunting and you find all your stuff put out on the patio, then you have hunted too much. Actually I still hunt just as much but I don't do all the other stuff like golf, softball, basketball, and flag football.

i did 26 days for deer and 8 for elk and wish i was still hunting deer this weekend.
i guess its time for me to try to fill my lion tag and call some coyotes

I do summer semester and take fall off for hunting. So far its worked for me. I actually had time this year to scout and find lots of animals. This year has been my most sucessful to date.

A person can never hunt enough. The only way is if you let relationships, bills, or lose stuff to hunt. If your talking giving up school then that all depends on what your after in school. I agree to stay in and wait till you have a good job to do it. But I am one for hunting and enjoying my life young instaed of waiting till older and cant hunt as hard as you want to. Hunt hard pay the bills and take care of business. I hunt tons and still have a good job. I am a sub contractor and it gives me a good living so I am satisfied with what I have.

I do not know why you would take a semester off to hunt MT! Everyone knows NM elk, eat MT elk for a light snack!

Hunt if you can afford it, you have the rest of your life to work and go to school

Hunt!

3 months of school isn't going to mean ##### 10 years down the road, but your body's ability and the demands of a regular workload will only limit your opportunities as you grow older.

I am fortunate becuase I am able to hunt quite a bit, but nothing like I did while I was in college- your most valuable resource is time.

Enjoy...

I think school is more important. A few months or years of school won't affect your ability to hunt. Not like waiting 10 years and then taking 4 off for school will. You are young enough you can hunt on weekends and maybe schedule classes to have 3 or 4 day weekends.

I did what you want to do. No degree. Not making much money. And now that I'm a bit older I don't have the ability to make as much as needed to do more and better hunts before I get too old to crawl around in the hills.

Thanks for your service to our country!

Jeff

If you're just coming back from this "lil Iraqy thing" as you put it, then you do what ever the hell you want to do. You deserve it. God Bless.

Guauge your hunting on your mariage. If she is going to leave you ease up until she is properly trained. You can never hunt enough from my single days perspective but you must watch out for this when you get married.

I disagree on the marriage issue. From day one (while dating) never ask for permission to hunt. Just tell her you're going. If you ask permission they think they have the power to stop you. If you tell them how it is from the beginning they accept it as part of life and never question it or put any thought into it.

In order for this to work, it must happen from day one. Never think you can train a woman, you are just asking for heartache. Find one who accepts that you spend a lot of time hunting from the get go, or move on to the next one.

mrbaitnfish,

That is all fine and dandy on the wife part. That worked for me when we had no kids. Since then it is a totally different story. If you have kids and your wife doesn't care I guess I should have married a blonde like you.
