Hey mtmuley,

Just wondering if you managed to get that big one you were chasing.

crextin, I didn't get the bull I wanted. Let a few more walk in the 320 to 340 range. Had some crappy weather to deal with, and lost some hunting because of it. Finally took a bull on the last day. Nothing to brag about, but I got him and he's mine. It was an incredible experience all around. I wouldn't trade the hunt I had for anything. Awesome. mtmuley

Congrats mtmuley,

That is some really incredible country to hunt and is always a memorable experience for me. See any big Mulies when you were there?

As a matter of fact, my buddy took a 170 to 180 class buck the first trip. We are still waiting on an official score. He was in Cart Trail Coulee. At the very bottom. He was worth every step. My name will definitely be in that elk tag draw every year. mtmuley

Congrats to your buddy.

There are some nice critters in that country. I'll be putting my name in the hat too. Have a good one. Hope the fever doesn't get too bad this off season.

Happy holidays

Hey Mtmuley, what district did you have a tag for and what do you think the biggest bull you saw was??

I am thinking about bowhunting that country next year and have always put in for the special tag you got (well, I put in for 410, I dont konw which one you were in).

Good to hear you had a great hunt. You had legit shots at 340 bulls and passed. That takes some scrote, but I always figured I'd hold out for a 350-360 bull also!

Hornseeker, I was in 622. Between my friend and I scoring, we saw 2 bulls we figured 370 to 380. There were also bulls on down the line from there. Only problem was it was the day before opener. As the pressure of cow and deer hunters moved in, the big bulls left. We hunted them hard but never found them on shootable ground. Oh, well. Turning away lesser bulls is a LITTLE easier when you see monsters before you can hunt, but not much. Maybe I made a mistake. I don't know how much time you have, or even what it is like during archery season. The bulls are there. Do your homework and go get one. mtmuley

I'd probably just hunt 8 days, in the beginning of October. I've never even looked at the country north of the lake, always thought I'd go south....have to rethink that some...

Sounds like you saw some dandys. That would be a fun hunt. I always figured if I got drawn for the rifle tag Id go over 4 days early and try to find a bull to shoot opening day, as I hear they disappear shortly thereafter. Since I've never been there though, thats just hearsay.
