I know this is a vague question but I'm wondering what are your opinions/experiences with Cwmu's. I have 9 points so Deseret is a long shot. I've called a few already but I'm curious about the quality of bulls and any services other units may provide. I know some are a do-it-self project, while others at least help somewhat. I realize there are a wide variety of units, but with so many it is hard to sort out all the relevant information.

There are some really good ones and some really bad ones. My experiece has been pretty good with them.

Nail down the dates you can hunt before you put in though, you may even want to get it in writing if you think you're going to draw.

Do not plan on or expect to hunt before the paying clients. One thing that I would stand firm on is access to the whole ranch. It really bugs me to hear how many only allow the public access to hunt a certain area.

I've also got nine points, but there are no CWMUs that I'd feel comfortable using the points on-that I could draw anyways.

Drawing Deseret may take you 3 or 4 life times, if you are lucky. I think the best (next to Deseret) is Oquirrh East. It is on kennecott property, and ran very very well. I drew this area 3 years ago, and got a super bull.
They have a lot of rules, and a lot of forms to fill out, but it is a great great unit.
I can give you come specifics, just let me know your e-mail address, and I will e-mail you.

wow I would be interested in the heston kenocot unit. I have 11 points and I am looking at units like San Jaun, Pilot, So West Desert, and the Pavant Monroe. I would consider a CWMU of the San Jaun or Manti or equilivant. I took a buddy in who drew the Manti. He killed a 387 and diff buddy on the same hunt killed a 360. But I feel it was so lucky. Any info on a good Cwmu would be good. OH I drew Deseret Bull Moose the first year they had PHU. Before the cwmu. They treated me right gave me a guide and the whole ranch. I was the only one hunting. It was a hoot and I killed a PY bull.
