I have a question for any of you that have hunted the little creek unit in the bookcliffs.
Is this area accessible by foot or would you be a complete fool to even think about going in without horses? Also I tagged along on a hunt in the Bitter creek unit three years ago. We saw numerous bulls, but very few of them would even break the 300 mark. I would assume on average, the elk in the roadless area are bigger. I would greatly appreciate any news or opinions that any of you out there might have on this unit.

Yeah I've been there before and it was a 10 mile horse ride in. I have only been in by thompson and I know of 1 other way in but I'm unsure of how far the walk would be in.

If you go in the Hay canyon road and then head west to the roadless area then you can drive right to the trailhead/camping area and hunt right from there. Horses will make the pack out easier but it can be done with more trips in/out by foot, if your in shape. Bulls are supposed to be abouta year older in class, but my friends that have hunted it have yet to take an older bull. 320 has been about par, but that has been a few years and there seem to be some better bulls of late.

Thanks Yelum and Codsteraz. I will have to get a topo map that shows Hay canyon road. 320 is not bad but I'd sure love to get a crack at a 350.

Hey i have a guy that i live by that guides at the range creek roadless area and he always takes mules in.

Does this guide live in Green River area,Has a pretty tough wife that works for the F&G If so he has one of my buddy's mules,(never should of sold that one) Nice and gentle and can pack like there is no tomarrow.

Hey archeryelkaholic, check out the "order maps" link on the home page. They have quadrangle maps that they will custom make for you as well as aerial photos. It's a great site...Steve
