I've been hearing about the huge snowfall in the SierraNevada. Are any of the other drier parts of the west getting decent snow??

Phantom,

In the Grand Junction area we are pretty close to normal for Precipitation, the Grand Mesa is Average too. The Southern Mountains and Crested Butte area are about 130-140% above normal so far. The Steamboat area is about 90% of normal. It is really too early to tell yet. November was wet, December was dry. March is generally our biggest snowfall month. ask me again in late April and I'll have a good answer for you. this latest storm has brought warm temperatures and rain to muc of western Colorado, I've heard reports of 2 to 4 feet in the San Juans,

Think Snow,

We're way above average in Utah, especially southern utah. In fact it's getting to the point that it may cause the deer herds some problems. The elk should be better than ever!

here is Idaho's outlook, as you can see we still need more throughout most of the state.

Here is a snow pack report for Utah http://web.ksl.com/TV/weather/weather_snowpack.php. Does this mean that we have ended the drought that we have been cought up in for the last seven years? Lets hope so. Last year we were at or above normal for our snow pack for most of the winter. Spring warmed up in a hurry and melted the snow off to fast. Only time will tell if we have finished the drought.

Thanks for the replies. Where I live in West Texas we have endured a 7 year drought which is just ending. Just west and south of us the drought is still on. I hope you get all the snow/rain you need without major winterkill. Maybe this moisture will help in my hunt for "one for the wall" next fall.
