I saw a Huge rack at a hunting show in Safford Az last summer The thing was unbelievable the plaque said largest bull ever taken my buddy said he had heard that a few of the racks were in question due to traces of steroids found in them any truth to this? I didnt believe him because I have seen, and killed a quality bull from unit 27 anyone have any info Thanks CM

Why are none of the bulls taken off the SC in the books ? not good enough or what ?

That's not true. I know that at least two of the top non-typicals of all time, and two of the top typicals of all time all came from the San Carlos, and all are entered in Boone and Crockett.

couesmaniac, this the rack you seen?

i heard a rumor that was this bull cant be entereed because the guy who killed it had been convicted of poaching in the past ,, although iam not sure if this is really the truth,,,but it is a huge bull cbryant

The Bulls on the San Carlos spend the summer playing baseball for the Arizona Diamondbacks!

My question would be, what precipitated the need to test the antlers? Heard about that bull on here but I never got the straight 411 on it so I would be interested to hear all the specifics about it .

The steriod question would make a person draw the conclusion that you are saying that the bulls on the San Carlos are medically enhanced.. correct ? When in reality the F&G manage those herds to achieve bulls that size so that they can sell those tags for such a high price.

cm,
The reason people aren't answering your questions is because we have all heard the rumors and inuendo over the last few years. However, nothing has ever been proved. Most of us on here are reluctant to perpetuate the myths surrounding this elk. There are many unanswered questions and it sure would be nice to know the truth no matter what it is. Until then, maybe it's better not to say anything at all unless a person has verifiable facts they can offer.

Shipsey, who killed that huge bull back in '97, has issues dealing back to hunting infractions from earlier sheep hunting in western Canada; hence the absence of listing of the San Carlos bull with B&C (nothing to do with any steroid-inducement by the San Carlos tribe) ...

Thank you for the comments I didnt want to open any old wounds I was just curious it is an amazing bull I will take the last two hunters comments and form my own judgement thanks for the pictures also CM

When are they gonna' put this rack on one of those sportsmans' show tours!!!

wasnt that elk on some movie i think i have seen it somewhere before?
Muley Man!

I could be wrong but the F&G has nothing to do with the bulls on the San Carlos. They are managed by the tribe. You do not have to draw a tag to hunt them. Just have to have very deep pockets. Somewhere around $40K deep by the time you buy the tag and pay the guide that you have to have and any trophy fees.

I have also heard that the tag was actually in his wifes name not his, so although the San Carlos really didn't care because they got their money, BC would not accept it. Just another rumor

I seriously doubt the bulls were given steroids. They have all that land up there & the tribe only allows a few to be taken every year. All of those elk are gonna get massive as helllllll because they manage it right & the land has the potential to produce those kind of creatures. Have you seen the video? Every single bull on there is 350 or more & I really doubt they go around in chute planes shooting them all in the ass with roids or puting it in their hay or whatever.
