I did this elk mount for a buddy of mine that arrowed this bull in the Gila a few years ago. The photos don't do this bull justice. He scores about 335, and has 54" main beams. He originally had somebody else do a european mount on the elk, and that "taxidermist" left the skull outside for a few months(not sure why), and the antlers bleached. So, I stained the antlers using the Browtine method and got a replacement cape for it. The antlers are also detachable. These pictures are taken in his house with all his other trophies.

Awesome job, good looking bull. The stain looks real good. Is it hard to get the antlers at the right angle when you do the "removeable" style mount??

It's not hard to get the right angle at all. I used square tubing, and square stock for this one. I drilled a 1/2" hole through the the bottom of the skull plate up into the antlers. Then, I bondoed in the square tubing and cut off the antlers with the tubing already in place. Put the square stock in and they're just like new.

nmtaxi,
There are times when you should appease people, but I don't think this is one of them. I always like looking at taxidermy...just in case I need to have some done sometime. I would like to be able to see this bull.

Thanks,
Ryan
