I just posted this under general hunting, but I thought you guys on the Elk forum might like to hear the story as well.
We met a retired lawyer while hunting MD in NM this year. We were camped out at a trail head that leads into the Wilderness area and he pulled up in his Suburban. Long story short he ended up having beef stew with us that night and headed out into the Wilderness area for 5 nights by himself. He went in opening morning and when we headed out 5 days latter he still hadn't made it out.
He also told us that he bow hunted elk earlier that season. He packed in by himself for 7 days this time, to later arrow a 340 class bull. He packed it out in 3 trips and then went back for the head last. He was packed in about 8 miles! I guess that gave him motivation to keep going back!
I have no idea what kind of Lawyer he was, but this Guy was hardcore and loved to hunt!
