New Mexico unit 13

I was trying to get some info on this unit from someone who might have experience with it. I see the odds are a bit better fir the muzzleloader hunt. Is public access a problem and are horses needed? Any info or suggestions would help, just want to go on a good muzzleloader hunt and don't need BC elk.

Unit 13 is loaded with private land. There are some good areas in the southern end of 13 that is forest. The earlier hunts would be best in that unit. As far as horses you probably wouldn't need them but, they are always good to have.

The overall numbers are low. I would only hunt this unit if I was a serious trophy hunter and willing to come home empty.
