Elk antler growth question

Spent some time scouting for my dad's hunt this year and saw a pile of bulls. I saw five or six that have an amazing start for only the second week of June. Several bulls are now working on their fifths and sixths with above average growth on 1,2,and 3.

Here's my question: How much more growth will a bull put on his front tines between now and by the time they are done the end of July? I saw several bulls with 16-18" fronts, with blood continuing to flow for another month through the velvet will they put on another couple of inches?

All in all it looks to be a banner year for feed!!

probably depends on what state your in and such but here in utah when i used to go with my uncles to scout for deer and elk we would see the biggest bulls already polished by mid july. we were usually down on my birthday which is july 19th. so the bigger bulls are done growing before the smaller bulls. it is kind of weird seeing the bulls polished at mid july. this was in central utah up around 10,000 feet

Elk racks usually feel out as the work up, so the brow tines on the bull you saw more than likely was pretty close to finishing the growth on it's brow tines, as a rule, when bulls start growing their antlers and develope the 4th point (the long one) their brow thine growth is finished.
