Big Roosevelt's Elk (pic)

I was in the Eureka, CA office of Fish&Game this afternoon, and they recently added this Roosevelts Elk to their office. It is a road kill from up near Crescent City, CA.

I asked if I could take a picture and they said no problem. So here it is. The gal at the desk didn't know the score so I called my buddy who is a measurer for B&C. He measured it and the score is 346 0/8. That puts it around 15th in the all time book. Thought you might enjoy.

Hey Guys

What do you think is the best vehicle and what speed do you need to be traveling to make a humane kill on an elk like that? I know a 1985 chevy impala does a nice job on deer. Maybe a Ford excursion for elk?

FYI, this particular elk was a "hit and run" so I have no idea what would be the best rig to use. LOL. Something with a functional air bag for sure.

Musta been one of those fellas who figured they only wounded him. I would have liked to see what the vehicle looked like...wonder if it fragmented or mushroomed perfectly?
