Hunted there 2nd rifle season last year. Drove up to Kerr Lake before opening day & hiked toward
Red Mt. from Robinson's Gulch Road opening morning. Also hiked pretty far up Mammoth in the snow. We had lots of snow. Saw no elk. How would you rate the chances of the first season (limited license) to the second (over the counter) and how many fewer hunters will be in the area. Any pointers regarding location would be greatly appreciated. Scouting there in late July.
We stayed at Mr. Heady's place (Skyline)...loved the area.
