Archery Cow Elk

You will have to bear with me because being from Nevada the only thing I really get to hunt every year are coyotes, chukar, and ground squirrel. I have hunted Bull Elk with a rifle however, I have put in for an Archery Elk tag and have no idea how to go about hunting them with archery equipment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

HUNT FROM A BLIND AT A WALLOW THAT HAS SHOWN USE.
BRING A CAMERA, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO BAG A NICE BULL ON FILM.

WHAT AREA AND DATES?

Locate a herd, pattern them- when they do what, find a trail leading to water and set up late afternoon. I am not very experienced, but elk seem somewhat predictable when it come to this.

Sit water.
Cow elk can be miserably difficult to hunt with archery. Chasing them is hard as they have lots of eyes in a group and they're not distracted like the bulls.
Sitting isolated water sources in the thickest elk areas you can find would be how I would try. Build a nice blind, use a turkey hunting chair, take a book.

I would suggest getting out right now and practicing. There are tons of calves here in AZ and the animals are staying out a bit late so you can glass some up and maybe plan a stalk but at least you can get out, locate the animals and locate water sources etc like everyone else has said. Also get a cow call like a "Hoochie-Mama" this is a great call and can cover up noise you make when you stalk....... Thanks, Allen Taylor......
