Looks like the planets were in line last week. Got an email from my wife saying that I drew a #447 Bull elk tag at Fort Hunter Liggett for this Dec. A little hard to plan since I am in Iraq for the next couple of months. If anyone could please provide me with any information I would truly appreciate it. Second year applying, this type of stuff never happens to me. Has anyone out there ever drawn this hunt before? My email is [email protected]. Thanks for any imput. Semper Fi, NDhunter.

Dont worry, you will get help here. There are a couple members here like Blueoak & Killowatt that probably can drum up the info you need. Thank you for serving for all of us.......... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

I never hunted fort hunter legget I know a few who have!
I will ask them when I run into them!
I think the base has alot of info as well since they hand out some tags only to the armed forces! And they have an mantory class before the season opens I am sure!
Maybe you can get your hands on an COBRA for some preseason scouting! lol
Maybe some brass know well whats going on too!
BE SAFE! WE ALL SUPPORT OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED FORCES!!
GOD BLESS AND COME HOME AND GET AN BIG ONE! (you earned it!)

Just got back today from a pig hunt at FHL, I've never elk hunted there but I can tell you that the bull's are bugleing constantly, there was a large herd around the campground. Good luck

Thanks for the update, at least I know there are still elk in the area. The last time I was out that way was a year and a half ago when we were doing touch and go's on their dirt strip. Back then the elk were all over the runway. There is a mandatory hunters orientation the day before the hunt but beyond that I don't know much. I do know that I am definately looking forward to the views of the hills out there, and seeing some critters. The sand and rock out here sure aren't much to look at. Semper Fi, NDhunter.
