I drew one of six archery elk tags in unit 621, anyone have any info on the Olympic unit in Wa. ??? Thanks Todd

That ought to be a smokin hunt, the entire west edge borders the park! I'd find a spot on the park boundary that has bulls moving out for the rut and try to work bulls not normally messed with. I know a few guys that work that area. I'll drop them a note and see if they have any suggestions.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-16-05 AT 08:07PM (MST)[p]That is a good hunt. I've been on it twice. I had a muzzle bull tag 8 yrs ago when the unit first reopened and got a 6x5 roosie herd bull from a group of 30+ elk. My huntin buddy had a muzzle tag 2 yrs ago but didn't score. A good place to check out is around Brinon. The problem is it's all private. There may be a way to follow the power lines from the south and get into them. Another spot that may be good is Lilliwap swamp by Lake Cushman. It's winter range but there's a few elk there year round. I'd avoid the northern part around Sequim because it overlaps a rifle hunt during the muzzle season not sure during archery though. Last year there was a MM member that had a tag for the same unit but I can't remember who or what weapon he used. Good Luck.

We had a tag there last year for archery Elk and scored a 4x5
Do the duckabush area around the powerlines, it worked for us
, it a sweet and mellow hunt, nobody up there and around noontime go fish silvers at the Quil mouth, be careful no snaggin lots of tickets given out for foul hooked fish
Good luck

Thanks alot guys! I'm a Arizona born elk hunter, this will be my first go at a roosevelt. Can't wait. Thanks Todd

Do you guys know the Private landowners feelings on the elk on their land, and getting permission to hunt. The elk up by Sequim and Port Angeles are all on Private? and would seem to have very little pressure! Todd

Tough to get on, if you bowhunt the guy near the Hamma Hamma with the huge ranch, will not let you on. Guns or blackpowder yes if you ask
WE stayed away from Sequim and PA and hunted down towards Brinnon

Todd, I drew a Unit 10 early archery tag. Randy is going to guide me again. How is life treating you keep in touch.

You could not have picked a better year! The antler growth will be maybe the best in 20 years. How much time do you have to hunt? Life is great! Looks like your doing pretty good too.
Tell Randy I said hello. Thanks Todd [email protected]

Todd, Trying to work it out were I can stay the whole time. My work is hard to get around. I never dreamed that this would be the year I drew a tag. Randy said he is seeing some monster bulls. Keep in touch. Okie
