Peaches Ridge

Thought I would turn to you guys for a little help. My huntin' partner drew the Peaches Ridge Archery tag this year and was pretty new to the area. We've been up there twice in the last two weeks learnin' the area. Elk have been scarce....probably because of the heat, but still kinda lookin' for any other starter points.

We've been comin' in from Chinook Pass and heading up Little Naches River Rd. I'm pretty familiar with that area, but have never been up there in Aug. or Sept. Anybody got any other suggestions on places we could scout? Appreciate any help. PM me if you'd like.

ITs been a long time, so the boundaries aren 't fresh in my head... If you come out of Ellensburg and go up the Manastash road all the way to Quartz Mountain you will see elk this time of year, lots of them. (if you are there at first light or last light.)

Hike out the trail from Quartz towards Lookout and Clifty mountains and you'll be in the thick of it. Thats a great tag man! There are 380 bulls in there, maybe bigger, but a good 330+ bull would fit the bill nicely!!

Good Luck to your buddy!

Try the Crow creek drainage. All the way up to Raven's Roost and maybe deep into the Norse Peak Wilderness. The elk are most active at night or first light. When it cools off or the rut begins you'll start seeing them. Go out scouting on Labor Day weekend and you'll probably hear some bugles. Hope the hornets aren't so thick this year.
