I just watch the DVD and was blown away by the quality of the bulls. How much are the management tags? Also the bulls that have been taken there are Huge, Why aren't they in the P&Y @ B&C record books?

Alot and they are.

What video did ya watch ?? I saw one some time back and was also just blown away at the amount of monster bulls there are ...NMHUNTNUTT

I dont know what video you guy's may have watched but my brother owns the one called hunting with the apaches. They have some monters in that video also.I think that all the bulls taken in that video were well over 400.

"Elk Hunting with The San Carlos Apaches" There was quite a few call ups on Bulls that were crazy to pass up anywhere else. These guys were after 400 plus bulls so they let the little ones(370-380+)go. They mentioned management tags for 300-330 bulls and I was just wondering what those went for? There was an archery kill on there that will be the new world record if it is P&Y scorable.

Assuming there is not a fence why would it not be a P&Y animal?

I'm not saying there not. I just don't know why some of the huge elk that have been taken there are not in the record books like the 502 bull that was killed there. They showed a shoulder mount of it in the video. It's the first I ever heard of it. It made me wonder if there was a reason the elk there were not eligible? Or was there another story to it?

I believe that the reason it is not recongnized is because the hunter was convicted of an Illegal Take previously so he is unable to enter any animals in the books.

Another thing to consider is many times the scores thrown out there by guides and hunters on these videos are gross scores. Since B&C and P&Y only record the NET score, there is usually a HUGE difference from what was originally discussed. I've seen many animals that are said to be extremely high.....then when I measure them they net a lot less. Still awesome animals, but not what everyone was led to believe.

Animals are accepted by both clubs from indian reservations. Whether someone enters their trophy is basically a personal choice and/or they are prevented from other reasons, as explained above.

There has been a lot of things said about using steroids to promote horn growth on the res (like that 502 bull). I've never heard if this was actually ever confirmed but a lot of people said these San Carlos bulls are juiced.

35 bucks + an old horse. A guy I work with, his brother is one of the guides on that ranch, He gave him 35 bucks + a horse and gets to hunt it this year :(.

After this past weekend, I now know first hand why
many will pay big $$$$$$$$ for such a tag.

Was with a fellow MM member helping out a friend on
a bear hunt on the San Carlos.

Glassed up three bulls. Two in velvet and one bare
boned. The ivory guy was freaking huge. Dwarfed the
velvet bulls. I can easily say it pushed 400. Biggest bull
that I will probably ever see on the hoof in my life.

Idahoelk, tags for the trophy units were hiked up to $30K with no more trophy fee and for the management hunts in the MALAY GAP unit tags run $3,000 a piece, guided or un-guided, here's a few pics i have of some MALAY bulls and also a pic of the 502 Dry Lake bull...first pic is the Dry Lake bull and the rest are all taken from various places in the Malay Unit.

Those are some great pics! If those bulls in the malay area are callable that is a great value. I just want to hunt somewhere I can have the classic call in while Bowhunting.
