Bugling in early August, Goat Rocks

I took long day hike into Washingtons Goat Rocks wilderness on the 1st of August. It was a productive trip, I saw 4 beautiful bulls, one six point that was tremendous. My question is, how often have you heard bulls bugling in early August. I have experienced it in late August but never this early.

I was in a large basin that was full of elk, I heard 4 different bulls bugle that morning, it sounded like mid September. I had my reed with me so I did a little cow talking and brought a decent 5 point in to 25 yds. He never did see me, I backed out and moved on without even spooking the heard. What a perfect start to the morning.

Does this ever get me pumped up for September Archery.

OH man am I jealous!! That sounds awesome.

I actually haven't heard them bugle this early, but have heard other people talk about it. I dont think its common at all, but its definitely not unheard of!

I've never heard it but have talked to others that have. Sounds like you had a sweet trip.
