Alright it has taken me 8 years to get my Az archery bull tag. I now have about a month before the season. I was suppose to start a trial on Monday that was to last 4 weeks. I expected to be so engrossed in the trial that I would be able to keep my every waking moment off the thought of chasing bulls. Well I learned today that our trial has been continued. I am going crazy. I do not know how I will make it to mid september. What remedies are available for this GOOD problem??

LAST EDITED ON Aug-12-05 AT 03:44PM (MST)[p]Sorry to hear that you're in such a painfull state. Even more sorry to inform you that there is NO cure or treatment for your condition. Enjoy!

Oh, but there is!
Dunk your head in the toilet, flush
Rinse and Repeat until condition subsides.
Ok, it doesn't work.
Got a hell of a water bill too!

A Kalifornicator and a Lawyer...........??? There's got to be a joke in there somewhere.

Sure glad I'm not your client.

I knew when I made the post I would run a serious risk of getting lambasted because of my place of residence and my occupation. Oh well it is what it is and I am still going crazy. There has to be a remedy. For the last several years I have been so disappointed after not drawing a tag. Now I am going crazy because I did. Like I said in the original post THIS IS A GOOD problem.

Hey Kalifornicator!

I'm only joking around. Actually, I'm mostly envious...... of your tag but not your place of residence or occupation.

Still don't think I would want to be your client right now though.

Good luck on your hunt!

Buy all of the "Awesome Bulls" DVDs and watch them over and over
( fast foward through the New Mexico hunts ).
Run around your house blowing on cow calls until your wife beats you with a broomstick.
Obsess over what camo to wear.
Study topo maps until your eyes are bloodshot.
Crank the poundage up on your bow until you almost rip your rotor cuff out, then back it off 1/2 turn.
Watch a DVD about hunting bulls in another state (not Utah) and think about how good you have it.
Go through all of you old copys of Eastmans Bowhunter, and Trophy Hunter looking for storys about Archery Elk hunting in Az., and re-read them.

None of this has worked for me so far, but you might want to give it a try.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-13-05 AT 07:13AM (MST)[p]If you're a defense attorney use the no contest route.
If you're a prosecuter use the lesser charge of littering and let him plea.
For a civil matter on the defendant side, have client use the Michael Jackson stall tactics and postpone until mountain lion season.
For a civil matter on the plaintiff side, advise client to drop the darn thing and get your mind in the game.
If it's a divorce your handling, have client give up the kids, house, boat(not the fishing one), pets and bank accounts. Keep the rifles, bows and freezer and get it overwith.
Report back on Tuesday with your scouting report.

Huntaz I know you are joking around and green with envy, at least about my luck in drawing a tag. I was the same way the last 7 years reading about all those lucky enough to have drawn.

Anaconda I have tried most of what you have recomended and still going NUTS. However the constant cow calling around the house will continue becasue my wife has become so annoyed that I think she will be glad I will be gone for a couple of weeks by the time the season comes around.

Shotwice good response but I do not think any of these will work. I did going scouting last week and that helped a little. Boy Az is having a wet year. The grasses are tall and green. All the water holes have plenty of water. I do not think sitting water will be as effective as it has been the last few years.

I apprecisate all the responses but so far no effective remedies. I am just going crazy!!!

Send me your tag and you will not have to worry about it anymore. I will take good care of it for you. What unit anyway? Good Luck!

A lawyer from Californa, what next??. Good response. You better have all them cow calls down before you come out to Az. You might even think about decoys. Ha Ha. I bet that if you were to come out to Az. and scout your unit alittle more, it would ease the crazyness your feeling. Oh, just a thought!!!

You could obsess about the weight of your pack. That has kept me busy for the last month!

From one trial attorney to another, there is only one short-term stall tactic for your elk hunting blues. You must immediately kill (I mean, humanely dispatch) some fury, non-domesticated critter. A sage rat, coyote, or jack rabbit will hold you over for a few days, maybe. I would suggest fishing, but that just doesn't do it for me unless you are talking about really big fish.

Others have suggested obsessing over your hunting gear and pack. I'm doing that right now. It's expensive and ulimately unnessary. You've probably been ready for 12 months or more.

You'll still have plenty of down time after hunting small critters as a stall tactic. As a last resort, try front-loading all of your yard work. Get everything done now. Then, ask your wife for a complete honey-do list. Get everything done ASAP.

Finally, if there's still more time left before the elk hunt, check our your truck. Tires, brakes, coolant, A/C, and everything else must be perfect. If it's a Ford, forget about all the problems and just immediately trade it in for a Chevy.

Good luck. We expect to see plenty of photographs.

Thanks all for your responses. I hope I bring back some great pictures to share and I am sure I will have stories to tell. I still have a month to go yet. Anyone else here have a unit 8 archery tag?
