Montana 316 Early Rifle Season

I need some advice from someone who has been there. I have been contemplating this hunt for a couple of years now and have studied maps for the area north of Cook City where road access is available (I have no access to horses, so am limited to hike-in hunts). I am attracted by the chance to hunt elk in the rut with a rifle, but not sure how crowded it might be and what the elk population in this area is given the wolfs in nearby Yellowstone. I would love to hear from anyone who has experience in this area. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Look at the harvest statistics looks low. Been in they 3 time u best have horses. The Elk are down in that area. Last time they grizzly bear came through side of some guys tent at nigth. Pack out a elk a guy at the trail head said grizzly followed me out. Save your time hunt somewhere else later year.
