New Mexico Unit 17 - Any one Hunting it??

We will be hunting Sept 19 thru Sept 24. Shooting the bow every night and working out every morning.

Only hunted in the south, but driving through have seen elk and very beatiful country. Some real steep canyons in parts. You will enjoy the country. Good luck!

I think 17 is one of NM best and most underated units for monster bulls. The elk are in thinner numbers there , but they are there. My buddy killed his biggest bull on the muzzleloader hunt there a few years back , I don't remember the score but he is HUGE . Find the water away from the roads , you'll find the elk .Water Canyon is a great place to hunt , but alot of 17 hunters also know about it and will be there , its just a matter of getting out of the truck to go find em...Should be a great hunt , I'd love to have that tag....NMHUNTNUTT
