the story

i will make it short and sweet. saturday morning we called in a 6x6 with long main beams and great width but no mass. he came in so fast he sneaked right behind us and he ran out to 70 yards. my freind shot and missed but was close becasue he shots left handed and hit his bugle and binos. then we heard another bull bugle so we talked back and forth but he didnt answer only every 4 bugles but he got closer.
we got set up and heard him coming but walked further down from us. i knew where he would come out on a game trail and in a little meadow that you see in the background. when we got setup he was rubbing trees and was out at 60 yards. i bugled and the bull walked away trying to get downwind and i bugled again so he turned around and started coming my way. there was a tree branch in front of me and two small trees in my shooting lane so i was going to whistle when he got in past them. but he stoped right were i weanted him to.
i put my 30 yard pin on adn hit him in the lungs and the angle we were at athe arrow hit the spine and bounced around inside. {i think it least that is what it looked like}. he ran and i saw him take a right turn. i went back to camp to let the bull lay and picket out the horses to eat. we went back 50 minutes later and found no blood. we walked down the game trail and i went to where i saw him take the right turn so we decided that we need to find some sign. so as we walked up my freind said there he is. i walked right past him at 40 yards away. all together he ran 70 yards. we quartered him out and got the horses and packed him out.
my school is going to mount him for me for free. i just have to buy the foam.

Very nice! Congrats!
SOunds like the elk were talking enough!
I heard my 1st bugles of the season while out on Monday.
Hopefully this weekend I will close the deal on a elk here.
