Wasatch Front Deer and Elk

I'm posting this on both the deer and elk forums because well, I have yet to fill either tag. I know that this subject comes up every year and for the most part I have never paid much attention to them. This year however is different. One thing I have never done is kill a decent buck (4X4) I would really like to accomplish that this year.
I am willing to go where most won't. I would really like to find a place that I can pack into a few miles set up a bivy/base camp for a night and hunt from there. If there is anyone willing to share some info on a couple areas that are far enough in that I will lose most other hunters and have a good chance at, at least seeing some deer please point me in the right direction. Not asking for anyone?s favorite spot , so please don't think I am.
I hunt solo most of the time. I enjoy that time of solitude but now and then I do enjoy company so if any of you want to go explore a new area together I'm game for that also.
You can P.M. me or send me an e-mail [email protected] Thanks to anyone that helps I appreciate it. Tim

I have been hunting the wasatch and I too am looking for a place with not many people. I got a good buck this year but they have been scarce since the season started. I hiked in 2.5 miles and went farther to hunt and the amount of people was crazy this year. As far as elk go they leave the vacinity even faster then the deer. It is definitly getting tough to hunt up there. I wish you luck up there.

I did the dumbest thing I've ever done and moved to Salt Lake for a better job. I've spent three weeks hiking after work above and around SLC...I'm found one big Bull Moose and nothing else. I've yet to find a deer. I've found some awesome country but the brush would eat you alive. If you guys find some thing out let me know: [email protected]

Up Mill Creek there are elk from Mt. Aire all the way to the head or Lambs Canyon mostly on the north side of the canyon but most of them are from the end of the road and further east. There are a few on the south side but it's alot steeper. Big Cottenwood, they're scattered from the S turn all the way to the Park City ski resort but spike only on the Summit County side and that season is over. The elk up these two canyons are always moving, so timing is everthing. Two years ago we called in a couple of bulls less than a half mile of the main road. Hope this help a little and I have see some nice bucks up there too. Just not the record book type from the last couple of years.
