Got a call from NV F&G today offering me an elk tag for the following units; 111-115, 221, and 222. The hunts are 12/3-12/18. On such short notice, I need to decide if it is worth the $$$. What do you think?

That means you must be home from the Rubies. How did you do? I would buy the elk tag, 12-3 gives you plenty of preparation time.

Depending on the price of the tag. My father in law has land owner tags for that area and he gets about $12 or $13k out of them. I know that is a little different but those are some great areas to hunt with some big bulls. Let us know what you decide to do, if I had the money I wouldn't even think twice about it.

Did not see the buck I went up there for. Great area though. Is that you Eric? If so, I will PM you.

I have this tag this year for the muzzleloader season and it is worth the money if you are looking for a big bull. The only problem with the tag in question is the pressure for the early season before and the muzzleloader season before that. Bulls will be a little more scattered and skitish. Snow can issue. You will see a lot of 330-340 class bulls and can kill up to 400+ in the area. The 111 ara has the highest concentration with 221 and 22 following. They were a little more concentrated in the year's past due to draought, but with the last two years, water is more readily available and they are a little more spread out. It's hard to beleive, but Nevada's herd is only about 8,000 animals.

Looks like I am passing on this tag. Some other dude will be happy. Can't let my daughter down.

m1fan. Before you make a decision, do you have to use your points for the tag? If not, think about a cow hunt for your daughter in either Uath or Colorado. Its not too late to set up a private land cow hunt in either state for less than $1000.00. A Nv. tag without using points is priceless even for the 1200.00 it costs a non-resident.

Did you hunt 101-108 in either the archery or muzzleloader season. If so, I'd like to talk to you.
