Fish Lake Elk

Just returned from the fish lake unit, hunted for 4 days with my wifes cousin, we seen 14 bulls and only 14 cows. I was wondering if anyone else has been hunting the unit and seen the same, or seen more cows and if so where abouts? I was shocked to see so few cows and bulls bugleing all by themselves!

I helped a couple of guys on the Fishlake during the archery season, and the rifle season. We were in bulls everyday, but they were hard to pull out of the trees. There is still a lot of feed back in the trees and meadows so they don't come out into view very often. We had to go back in after them but the bulls were there. We hunted north of the lake..
No shortage of bulls where we were...

We seen more bulls than cows. I would have to agree that it was tough to pull them out of the trees. Calling seemed to be ineffective. My dad took this bull towards the end of the hunt. If you look above his ear you might can seen that he is missing his hair. This extends all the way around his horns. Has anyone else seen this before? I assume its been rubbed off.
