Just wanted to share our success here in Wyoming?.We went 100% or 5 for 5 on our bull elk this year, hunting 30 minutes from our home. My cousin shot a 6X6, and uncle shot a 7X7 this year during archery season. My dad shot a 6X6, and another man we hunted with shot a 5X6 the 15th and 16th?Myself, I shot my first bull elk a 5X5 on the 15th, at around 9am?Dropped him is his tracks?Working on the pics~ Just thought that the success was unusual for elk?

LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-05 AT 09:30AM (MST)[p]Wow, fantastic results. Were they all taken with archery? How long were the shots? What hunting techniques were used?
I am curious. Were you on public land or private?
Thank You for sharing your success with us.

My cousin shot the biggest bull a 6x6 with his bow at about 15 yards...I was not there but I was told that they set up a call line with a cow decoy, and he came in on my cousins side first....My uncle shot the smaller 7x7 the same way but with a 2 person call line....

I shot mine at about 9 am on the 15th....He came running in and I shot him across a creek draw....Went down in his tracks 150 to 200 yrd shot...He was about 300 yrds from Joe's 5X6 that was shot about the same way...

My dad shot his on the 16th right after daylight I guess at about 75 yrds...One shot and he ran about 50 yrds and went down...

All and all can't complain about the hutning this year~

If you shot them 30 minutes from home, you were hunting area 19 on Muddy Mountain. Spoke with the game warden up there yesterday. He said lot's of good bulls have come off Muddy this year between the archery and rifle seasons. A 370 - 380 gross bull came off the 3rd range in 19 during the archery season as well as a 330 bull. I saw 24 head with a large bull while deer hunting last Saturday not far from the Bates Ck. Reservoir. Just wish they'd go back to opening the elk season later so it wouldn't be so crowded.
