I have seen whitetail that have been harvested that still have velvet on their horns like that-No nuts. A cactus mule deer was harvested last year or the year before that scored over 220+, still in velvet, pea size nuts. I have never seen an elk like that, thanks for the pic..

Very weird looking but cool....has something to do with Testosterone(SP)...I think...is that right?

I have a friend that has the exact same antler configuration, I mean exact. The word on the street is that elk especially, well you cant even put a price on soemthing like that it is so rare!

I saw one at the Sportsmans Expo 4 years ago. Same thing it was a bull with out male plumbing and it's antlers looked exactly the same. Can't remember where it came from though.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-05 AT 06:24PM (MST)[p]most units in colorado has the 4pt rule. but this elk does have 5" or better on the brow tines on one side. it is legal bull in a 4pt unit.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-18-05 AT 11:22PM (MST)[p] Well NMhuntnutt
And just how would have ya mounted the elk. while he was still alive? Hope ya weren't thinking about mounting him and backstaping him while he still had the quivers. kiddin!!
We use to hunt deer in so ut. And the local sheep hearders would catch the fawns in the snow and de-nut them. Always big bucks. I seen several deer that were taken in that unit nutless. Steer deer are usually monsters. Way kewl bull

Awesome, there was a bull her in centeral WY a few years back that was clubbed on one side like that and normal on the other~~

Pretty funky!
And I was wondering how you were going to mount him too..
I had this weird picture in my mind of you putting the sneak on him as he was feeding and then .........
I think Rut's idea made more sense, but still ............
Cool bull..thanks for the picture...I've seen mule deer like that but never a bull elk...

Yep RUT , I knew there was a chain reaction off this post , lmao , again . Correction , I would have , caped him , then taken the bull to the taxi , to then do a shoulder mount , for my wall . Have to really be careful with certain words and the use eh. Freak , the bad thing is after reading your post , I too got the crazy FREAKISH, visual( not me doing the sneak!! ), man ....NMHUNTNUTT

hey NMHUNTNUTT1,
You're right as to having to be careful around here what you say! Everyone knows what you mean, but we can't just let it go at that!!!! That wouldn't be as much fun!!!
Thanks for the humor!!

Bulls and bucks sometimes castrate themselves jumping fences, logs, etc. I've seen some pics of bucks and bulls with really freaky antler configurations that were minus their jewels.

For sure nmhuntnutt1 I ment what you knew and u knew what I ment. I just had to pass on some of the abuse this site has giving me forever and part of a day. One thing for sure that is a great pic thanks. Did I say that wrong or did you understand ime right? go figure
