Huge Colorado Bull

Ok, maybe he's not huge to you guys, but for Colorado it's a monster. I'm starting to wonder if I should start hunting other states as the hunting here seems to get worse every year. I guess I'll give it another year or two, I know the weather definitely did not cooperate this year as you might of seen from my other post.

He was able to get 5 full days of hunting in before finding out his buck tag was private land only. He made the mistake but DOW wouldn't do chit for him. He was pretty pissed, he made the mistake (an honest one) and put a P in the code which tells them private land. Luckily when DOW checked him he was in camp and not hunting so they couldn't do anything, and luckily he had not shot a buck yet. He went in and they called Denver but they didn't want to hear about it, they just told him it was his fault. Bunch of BS, matter of fact I just started writing a letter to let them know what I think of the situation. They wouldn't swap it out for a regular tag or even give him credit towards a bull tag. So he just went home a couple days early as we don't know anyone in 74 with private land.
oh well, I hope he still comes up to hunt, he said he probably won't after what happened.

Nice bull dutch, congrats. Not trying to be a d*ck but i think its your friends fault for the tag code mix up not the dow. I assume he didn't notice it until the season started ? Sorry to hear about that, weather was tough as it seems to be every year.

It was his mistake, but an honest mistake. I don't know, I can kind of see why the DOW just can't swap it out for a regular tag. At least I think they could of offered that tag as credit to a bull tag maybe. They would of just made more money, but then again it was after the season started so they wouldn't even do that. Oh well, rules are rules. weather definitely sucked as you can see below.

Congrats on a successful hunt dutch.

So how many hunters, horses, and atvs did you count?
Come down to AZ while there still is quality.

Congrats again.

The only hunters on horses we saw were just at the trailheads tied up. ATV's, we would see a few here and there on the main road when we were going up or down from camp or our hunting spots. Other hunters, not a whole lot, they don't like to get down where we hunt, too hard on them.:D
Sunday was pretty cool, me and my oldest son went up Missionary deer hunting. When we were coming back we were near Wallace lake and had a big bear run across the road in front of us. He thought that was pretty cool. No deer, end of burnt timber road had about 6 inches of snow though.

Dutch,
That second photo looks like the cover shot for the new Deliverance Hunting Calendar... j/k

Congratulations on a nice CO bull and a freezer full of meat...

Don't know where you're huntin' at in Colorado, but the areas that we've been into the past few years are the best that I have ever seen for the State, and killed my biggest bull to date up there (327" P&Y).Congrat's on your successful hunt!

Pal,
How do you know what a cover looks like for 'Deliverance' magazine? lol
Squeal boy!!! :D

Widowmaker,
There are some nice bulls in 74 and 75, I am just flustered for the last 2-3 seasons due to the weather. I better be careful for what I wish for because one of these years I might get it.
I had a chance in 74 about 6 years ago at a beautiful 5x5, probably over 300 bull.
I tracked him in fresh snow up to about 30 yards, due to thick timber though I only caught a quick glimpse of him! DOH!!!
