Heard of 1,000+ in Quilomene?

I have been hearing rumors of a heard of over 1,000 elk passing through the Quilomene unit in washington on opening day. I guess all of the camps around that heard had 5+ elk hanging. I know heards get big there but usually only the reserve has that many elk on it. Let me know if any of you saw this.

I havent heard that, a coworker who hunts clockum saw a herd of 100+ but that was about it.

I have a friend up there right now deer hunting...he has been up there for a week and did shoot a spike bull. I talked to him today and he said there are elk everywhere...he has seen a few deer but alot more elk.

i have been in the quilomene unit for the past 2 days, and will be so again tomorrow....i would say 1,000 head would be a conservative figure...we have been seeing at least that, although, not all in one herd...

Little foot you wanna send me a pm on where you are seeing these elk? I got my first elk this year but really want to try out the Quilomene next year If I am going to college at CWU. I Know the park creek area somewhat but have never seen elk numbers in the thousands there. Thanks

I would guess there are so many elk in the Quilomene due to all of this early snow. This much snow this early doesn't happen very often, so just don't expect to see the same numbers of elk in there next year.

I live in the kittitas valley and I have heard from a friend from Leavenworth who did get a spike. Said they saw a couple of hundred a day. They went in from the eburg side up colokumm road.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-11-05 AT 06:11PM (MST)[p]still 'out there'....son has a late season deer tag....he's 'holdin' out for that big one. lots of elk in the area, as well as a few sheep. saw half a dozen herds of elk this size today, along with a lot of smaller herds. we counted 192 in this bunch....

Yea thats a common Quilomene heard. I hope you find a heard of 1,000 and snap a picture of that. What kind of bucks have you guys seen so far? What area are you hunting?
