mice, smice....whatever.....nice bull, congratulations, and thanks for the pics...

Nice wet Raggy! However, while it may have some Roosey blood in it, It would not be recognized as such in the books. Only bulls shot west of I-5 get the nod as Roosevelts.

Doesn't take away anything from your animal though.

Good Job. I'd love to know what part of the unit you got him.
PM me.

What's the unit just to the west of Mt. St. Helens along the Toutle River? I saw some nice bulls in there last hunting season while taking pictures of the mountain.

I got him near the 100 roads near Bryant Lake, that is above Swofford Pond. If you know where those are you will have a pretty good idea what area I got him in. Interesting comment on the I-5 split, I am curious why did they choose I-5, if you know? Thanks for the post.

I don't have an authoritative answer for you on why they choose
I-5 but I'm guessing because it is an easily Identifiable border and I don't believe any of the herds west of the freeway have ever had any transplants or imports to improve the herd. Many of the herds east of I-5 have had Rocky Mountain Elk introduced into the herd at some point since the 1920.

The Nooksack herd is a prime example of a mixed herd. There were roosey's to start with and then several introductions of Rocky Mtn elk over the years. You can find some bulls that display the roosey crown on the top of a mature rack and also the very typical Rocky straight 6 or 7

RE: last year vs. this year..SORRY

Good job! Love those Roosies!
I am headed up to a sweet spot in the 503 unit this week. I'm hoping to stick a nice rocky that I have been watching for a while.
