Friends:

Just back from NV. Spent 5 days scouting and as many days hunting. Great fun. I hope you all get to do it some day.

Attached is a picture of the bull I shot in NV and below are pictures of other bulls my son and I killed this year.

Here is my son's 2005 MT bull. Not bad for his first, eh?

And here is my AZ bull from 2005.

All DIY Public land hunts. I still have four days to fill my MT tag. Probably won't get that done before Sunday. All I want for Christmas is a gift certificate from my taxidemrist.

Happy Hunting and Happy Holidays to all of you!

BigFin,

Great bulls. What Area did you get that NV bull? It looks like a bull that I took pictures of during my muzzy hunt. The only discrepancy is the 5's look a little longer than the one we watched. Other than that, he is a close match everywhere else, including the great 3's.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-23-05 AT 02:28PM (MST)[p]BKHunter:

It was in unit 222, south of Ely. Was your bull running with a smaller 6x6 and a really big 6x6 with a broken 3rd on the left with the right having a broken 2nd and a busted main beam at the 5th point? If so, this would be your guy.

For two days, I tried to get on the big busted fellow, as he was a real toad, even with busted stuff, but some other hunters boogered the deal, not even knowing the big guy was bedded a couple hundred yards away from where they parked their ATVs. In fact, the big boy (estimated at 370"+ before breakage) and the small boy (estimated 300") blew out from where I saw them bed. I came back in the evening to try find the big guy and found this guy still bedded. I thought he had flown out with the other two that morning, but evidently not. For being so cooperative, I gave this bull a free ride back home to MT.

A majority of the bulls I saw were busted up. Still a great time. I had not hunted there since 1989 (deer) and had forgotten what a great place it is.

Congrats to you and your son on some great hunting!
Very nice bulls.
What a year.

What part of the state did your son get his bull. Was it a special draw? Public land?
That is a sweet bull

OK, I'm gonna ask too. :) What unit did you get your AZ bull in, we will be going in another year or two. Either 6A or 6B, I can't remember which.
Simply AWESOME BULLS!!! Where are you gonna put all those mounts! :) Congratulations to you and your son!

Sorry guys, but I can't give all the locations.

All these elk were self-guided public land hunts on limited-entry draw tags. It was a lucky year in our family - Resident MT limited-entry elk tag for my son and two non-resident limited entry elk tags for me. I am glad to divulge the NV information, as I am now on a 10 year wait in NV for elk. The odds of another one of those in my lifetime is remote.

Happy Hunting and Happy Holidays to all!

it might be cheaper to buy your taxidemrist a new truck. LMAO
You guys had a great year, some great looking heads.

Congrats on all the bulls. Hope you have an empty wall somewhere. You are going to need some serious space to hang them.

Great job! Those are great DIY public land bulls. Was your sons Montana bull a "breaks" bull? Sure is a good one, congrats to you guys.

Sweet pics, I'm sure you will not have a year like this ever again. Congrats on your hunts.
