Thanks Polarbear. Are you a member of the WSB? That should put you in the running for the Glen St. Charles award, assuming you stuck him with one of those sharp sticks. GREAT looking bull! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the nice compliments!
Ok, here is the story. I almost didn't make the hunt. I had been (and still am) fighting the flu for almost a week. The night before, it hit me full on. The minute that I got home from work, I started puking and got the chills. I figured that it was definitely a no go. I called my hunting buddy and told him that if I was feeling better in the morning that I was going to head out. He informed me that he had something to do and if he was going to get out, it would be a little later in the morning. No problem. Thanksgiving Day I awoke at 2:00 am and was rejuvenated (sort of) and ready to hit the hills. I get up to the trail head and head out. I was not running at 100% due to the flu thing. It took me a little longer to make any headway. Where I had been seeing the bull was 3 ? to 4 miles in and in a pretty nasty drainage. So, I am plugging along through the timber, it is cold and getting daylight. About 1 ? miles into my trek I hear branches snapping and movement. I hide behind a tree and watch this small thin spot in the trees about 60 yards away. A couple of cows wander through on a well used trail. I sneak closer using the trees to hide behind. I get within 25 yards of this trail and hunker down for the wait. Several minutes go by when more cows file past, then a spike, more cows, a decent 3x4, more cows and then my boy! I am thinking, what in the hell is he doing way down here? I guess that the incoming crappy weather must have pushed them down. I draw and send a special arrow that I saved just for him. Double lunger!!!! He walks about 35 yards and decides to bed down. Somewhere between 10-15 minutes pass by and he ?falls asleep?. It starts to rain and blow as I am boning out my long awaited prize. I load up the pack and head back to my rig with the first load of delicious meat. I had a hard time leaving the head behind. But I believe in getting the meat out first and not wasting any. Plus, it gives you great incentive to go back and finish the job. I get within a couple hundred yards of my rig and here comes my buddy bombing up the trail. Boy was I glad to see him! A couple more trips and were all done. Got back home in time to hang the meat and head over for Thanksgiving dinner with the family. After I got home that night, I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up skinning and picking the head. I'll post some better pics after I get him all cleaned up and pretty. I have to give credit to my buddy Rob for helping me pack it out. There is another 300 class bull in the same area. We are going to try and get it for him next weekend. My bull is a rocky. I took it in an area that has both rockies and roosies.
I had been dreaming of this bull for months and wasn?t sure if it was going to happen. I am glad that it did!

So for Thanksgiving you said thanks for the bull dieing 3 miles closer to your truck than expected right?

NICELY DONE!

Awesome friggin' bull man. Congrats to you big time. I'm with boneaddict....you had to be thankful for the closer pack out. :) Your not gonna get that bad boy mounted huh? Either way, will look sweet on the wall.

BTW....sent ya a PM.

We might have our differences, but I will say that you have a heck of a nice bull there. congrats, and good thing you took him ethically haha.

Nice job! Thats a tuff bull to get in the late hunt.....Real good looking elk.

nice nice nice bull Polarbear. Love the color of those horns!!! No whiteys this year?

Garrett

No whities this year. Just cant find the time. Talked to my hunting buddy today and he rode into my favorite whitie spot yesterday and saw 2 bucks over 140" within 100 yds of my best treestand spot. DAMN IT!!!!!! Maybe I can get over in March and pick up some nice sheds. At least they should be there for me next year, provided that some damn cat dosent eat em.

I live and hunt in western washington and to kill a bull like that in late archery westside is comparable to killing a 450" bull in Arizona. When you consider there is general season hunting in most of the decent western units for all three weapons (muzzle, archery, rifle), this is truly an accomplishment that goes beyond just a record book entry. Congratulations!

Congratulations Polarbear!
Sounds like you did a lot of work finding him and keeping track of him. Thanks for giving the rest of us western WA hunters a showing of what can happen! I'm sure you don't have room for a whitey in the freezer now anyhow.
