Had a great morning today, went on the annual late season Cow Elk hunt with some good buds. Man, it was COLD!!! Just below zero at 8 am. We found a group of about 20 cows, picked out a couple, and the rest is history......

What does she score tony?;-)

Did the Ford fire up in that frigid weather? Did she make it home?

Looks like you had a good time. Thanks for the photos.

looks like you guys 'got the job done'...congratulations...gotta tell ya though...."man, that looks cold"....thanks for the pics, too...

Congrats on the hunt. With the .257? that is awesome. I figured you might take that with you. I was hoping to go with you guys, but you know jeran and I, we would much rather work in the freezing cold. I hope you got it on video. We'll head up in a couple of weeks with Christian, he also got a tag.
Well, I haven't decided on a gun yet, would love the weatherby, but man it is alot of money, but who knows, if it can kill an elk.....
Congrats again,

Jason "The Big Ol' Muley"

LAST EDITED ON Dec-07-05 AT 06:45PM (MST)[p]ktc: Yeah she fired right up!!! (no surprise)

littlefoot: Yes, it was dang cold!!

jason: Yea, we got it on video, Im working on a server to host it right now, so I can show the world that the .257 will kill Elk. They were all over the place up there, we couldnt decide which group to go after. You guys wont have any problems, the only difference is, how far from the road will they be. Ours were about 3/4 mile, luckily all downhill. cya

OK, here is the vid.....its short, because video hosting is hard to find......

I shot a cow with my .257 Weatherby a few years back at a very long distance. I'm guessing 400 yards, maybe a tad more. No range finder. (Yes I know where it's hitting at that distance and I know the foot lbs) Anyway, the bullet dropped a lot and I nicked the top of her heart. She sprinted up the hill, (about 4 steps) and slid back down deader than a post. I love that gun!

she looked like, she didn't know she was hit, that is a pretty clean shot. Got to love those Wthby's

Tony

YOU SURE HAULING THEM COWS OUT IN A FORD WAS ETHICAL???

LOL!!!

I THINK YOU & ktc NEED TO HOOK ONTO TRAILERS LOADED WITH 25 ELK EACH & SEE WHO CAN HIT THE TOP OF THE BIG HILL FIRST!!!

YOU JUST WON'T QUIT PULLING THE TRIGGER THIS YEAR WILL YA???

Yes, hauling them out in the Ford was ethical, just maybe not driving the ATV all the way up that hill!!! That was alot of work, just dont tell the authorities, OK. JK, we packed em out the old fashioned way, on a cheap plastic sled!

Yeah that was a fun day to go. And yeah super ridiculously cold, but i like the little video we did get. We'll do it again next year
