Can anyone give me information on an outfitter that will take us into unit 70 on Colorado for an archery elk hunt in Sept of 2006

Hello Elk_Horn. What kind of drop camp are you looking of or are you looking to be guided? Are you wanting to be taken back away from roads or just need a camp? Let me know because I will be hunting deer in the area during muzzleloading season. Could set up a extra camp if you dont mind being near the roads. Jovan

I was looking for a drop camp by horse back .. but if that dosnt work I could camp anywhere and then hicl in each day to bow hunt.. What part of 70 are you talking about?

The whole western part of that unit is BLM land. I really dont know much about that unit because it's rather far from me. I wanted to plan a scouting trip early this fall but unsure. I have been checking out a few different areas. Let me know if you know that area. Jovan

I dont know the unit but have gotten maps... I was thinking I would drive to Telluried Wilson Peak Area late summer and check that area.

What state are you from and why are you heading to this unit? There are better units for elk. If I was coming from out of state to hunt and pay those high prices on the elk tags I would hunt a area that has more water and fewer hunters. I just found out that the DOW is allowing hunters to use a few perferance points(not all) to draw tags so my hunting partners might want to hunt a better area but I have been wanting to hunt the far south west corner of the state for a few years. There are a few good deer in that area. Jovan

im looking to hunt elk over the counter license archery..just thought that 70 would be a good unit from the stats Ive seen. Do you have a better suggestion. Im open to any suggestion.. its been over Ten years since Ive hunted elk in Colorado.
