Was curious if anyone on MM has ever elk hunted this unit? If so what was the terrain like and what was the quality of the bulls. Thanks, Skeet

Good bulls, fair numbers of grizz bears and wolves. Roads are limited. It can be hunted on foot, but horses are the way to go. We had a bear walk through our camp at the Jack Creek trailhead/campground last season.

Skeet I too put in for 62, heard it has very little privat land which is good. Plan to bowhunt, heard few bowhunters in sept. Not much more info but I am curious what everyone else thinks too.

When I did my application....I had unit 62 in mind all along. Even called the Bio man from that area to get the scoop. Since there was a possibility that I would be hunting on my own if my partners didn't draw...I chose not to because of the Grizz numbers. Biologist said they had a real healthy bear heard. IF all three of us get our points...we might put in there next year on a group application. I ended up putting in over in the Bighorns instead. Have very little chance of drawing my first choice. Btw...Bioman confirmed the excellent access and decent Elk in the back country.

Cheers
