Greetings to all!!

Still trying to narrow down a choice for this years Elk hunt. Have been looking at Mt. Zirkel wilderness quite a bit, looking for the opportunity to get away from the walk-in day hunter crowd. Most likely will hire a outfitter to take us in or maybe utilize a setup camp.

Would really appreciate hearing your opinions and experiences about this area as I have never been there.

PM or personal emails welcome & info always kept confidential.

Thanks for any help!

Frank, Buddy and Friend,
Please don't tell him about our "Honey-Holes"! Send him over to Lunghacker Mountain, they're nice Bulls over there...remember??

We need to plan for next year or 2008.

Bow, muzzleloader, rifle?
Last year a friend of mine packed in and shot a small bull right after he set up camp during muzzleloader season. The year before he bowhunted it and was a bit turned off by all the camps that were 4-5 miles from the trailhead, Saw a few elk but came home empty.

I believe he was toward the southern end of the wilderness area.

Zirkels hold some decent Bulls. I personally think the northern end has a lot less pressure. The blow downs along the main WY/CO trail is really thick and a pain to go through. Many Hikers hang out in the Wilderness area until the snow flies but if you stay in the north edge, you'll be more isolated.
