I have had these pics for a long time but I promised my friend that I would not post them until his story came out. You can read the story in this issue of Hunter Illustrated.

What a beautiful animal.... Good looking elk, and a hell of a hat rack on him! Thanks for sharing, that would have killed me to have to wait to share something so nice . .

First thing I thought was Tule elk, especially with the grass in the background. Then I thought this bull is almost too big to be a Tule.... Have to admit another thought I had was. Is this a high fence bull? Here's to hoping it was a free ranging, wild bull. Groundhog

groundhog,

I don't see any reason to taint this post with the "penned elk" comment. What about these photo's or the fact it is in hunting Illistrated that makes you suspect anything but fair chase ??

JB, Sorry, I didn't mean to taint the post or magazine. Wish I could take it back. My comment was becuase I have noticed that a lot of the big high fence bulls have palmated main beams. Just an observation. Glad to hear this is the real deal! I guess I'll have to watch what I say a little closer. :)Groundhog

Nice Melk! Love the "palms" - question is - was it a bull elk and a cow moose or a cow elk and a bull moose?

Very nice bull!!! I was in store in montana ,I think it was a hardware store on an indain reservation ,this was about 15 years ago. They had a huge shed in there with 9 points on it.It looked very similar to the left side of that bull. I asked where it came from and the guy said right there on the reservation and the bull was still alive. I wonder if that is a relative of that bull. I'm not trying to get you to say where you got the bull, I wouldn't tell where I got a bull like either it just struck me how much those antlers looked alike.

One heck of a bull, You have to know that he passed on so great genes, that area will be a great area to keep to yourself, try and get another one just like him so you have a matched pair hanging on the wall.

Nice looking animal. Palmination like no other. Waht was the score on this animal?

Finally some field photos...those things have been locked up TIGHT! I'm thinking he nets around 396....if I remember right.
There were live photos of him on the net last year somewhere, that was impressive.
Is he off your place Bearpaws?

I don't know if that's a big bull or not, but man...That guy is a stud! I bet he pulls some serious wool. Rumor has he treats hot chicks like 400" bulls and takes them down!

I heard it was Colorado springs that he spends time at. That town is more Gay than san fran and still close to hunting.
He tried living in wisconsin but the Gays were far and few there so he moved away once his sexual preference was clear.
