What is a Montana elk permit. The regs say they are not for harvesting an additional elk but that it expands your opportunity in your elk unit but does not elaborate, does anyone know what they are?

A elk permit allows you to hunt elk in a hunting district that doesnt have a gerneral elk season. An elk permit may also allow you to hunt cows in a hunting district that is bull only.

Oh and one more thing..........you have to have an elk license to put in for an elk permit.
