Looking for any info on archery elk hunting near grand lake is it draw only,or can you buy tags over the counter, what is the quality of bulls and geeneral elk heard size. My family has a cabin that I can use in the area and was thinking of doing some hunting there in the future and wanted to know what the deal is. Any help would be great. Any mule deer info would be good to.

This is a Over-the-counter area. Unit 18. There area good bulls in the park and if they move out, they will be just to the West of the park (Supply Creek area). There is a lot of public land but if your hunting that early you might try back packing in away from the roads. There are a lot of moose in the Arapaho NF so be sure of you target. I would look around Apiatan Mt or Porphyry Pass area Supply Creek area aswell. DO your scouting and get good with a call and you have a good chance of getting a bull. Jovan

Thanks for the info sounds like there are some nice bulls up in the park. I hunt just out side of Mt. Rainier nation park so I am familier with park elk and waiting for them to leave the boundry. Its funny how they play the same game with us no matter where they are be it Rocky mt, Olympic, mt. rainier, yellowstone.
