My first Archery Elk hunt in Arizona

It was mid-September of 1997... My best friend from Oregon, his father and I all drew tags for our favorite unit in Arizona. We had been hunting for approximately five days, and my buddy had already taken a shot at a 340 plus Bull--but missed. On this day, we set up in the junipers-my friend on one side of the tree, and I on the other. My friends dad was calling for us. The bulls were bugling all around us--my adrenaline was pumping!!! All of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I see Antlers bobbing from side to side just above the juniper trees--this Bull is surious, full out trot straight for us. I try to gather my thoughts, and at the same time try to knock an arrow. I'm good up until I try to rest my arrow on the rest---My friend to this day gets a great laugh out of the sound that came from this.... ting ting ting ting ting..... I was shaking so bad I could not for the life of me get that arrow to rest on the rest!!!! Needles to say it was a great Bull. I may have had Bull fever that day, but the Bull did'nt come into my shooting lane...My best friend missed another great Bull from 20 yards.. Looks like someone else had a case of Bull fever also....
