Not to Familar with this unit but I have heard good things about it. Is it a good late hunt option for a 320+ bull? I have 9 points this year and don't want to waste them. Any informaiont would be appreciated. Also what about Acess to the unit? Any Private land?

Thanks Dugan

I don't know a lot about it but I've heard the indians take a large percentage of the bulls out of there. I could be wrong on that, it could be another unit in the Blue Mountains.

all of the ellensberg/Yakima units have 320 bulls and you have better odds of drawing them with nine points. Try peaches ridge and observatory, goose prarie, and Rimrock There are also 4x the number of elk in the yakima herd than the blues.

Acually from what I hear the Dayton has 380 class bulls. Lots of public land to hunt! I would try for them during the rut. That would be your best chance. Dayton get's hit real hard during deer and elk rifle seasons. In the lower elevations is all the private land and there will be elk on the private stuff late in the year. During my spring bear hunt last year we saw bulls in velvet and could not beleieve the lenght of the eyegards! Un- beleivable! I would think if you drew you would have a great shot early in the season! I hunt the west side right now but I'm going east for elk next year. I'll be hoping for a special bull permit. I'd love to see a 360 bull much less shoot one. We have a ton of good elk over here but good luck even seeing a 300 class bull during the season. CD

This is my dream unit. I would love to archery hunt big bulls here. Not unheard of to see 350" to 360" bulls here. Just not many tags. I don't know about late hunts though.

Well lets see, I hear that the 'Indians' have a draw in this area as well. But I also heard that there is many many cases of poaching in this area as well. Where are these 'Indians' from, or you hear that as well. I just have some Native friends and respect them very much, I just dont like seeing black eyes given, when there isnt no punches thrown from them.

Put in, get drawn, and then find me. I spend a lot of time in this area year round and know almost every inch of it. The rifle
permit season starts earlier than the regular spike only does.
The norm is 320" to 340" bulls but bulls up to 400" are seen.
