Hunting Lease

I'm from Texas where I get a hunting lease each year since the season here is apprx 3 months long, including archery. Do most of ya'll get leases for whitetail and then put in on draw hunts, etc for other game or do ya'll put in solely for hunts and hope to get drawn on 2 or 3 per year forget the annual lease? I ask the question because I'm fed up with my current lease and I'm just searching my options. I'm posting the same thread in the deer forum, but just trying to get ideas.
Thanks

I once had the same problem, and I found an easy fix. I moved the hell out of that state. Public land is a freedom that the people in Texas don't have. Good luck!

Yeah I know - I hate that Texas doesn't have more public land. Still debating on wether or not to drop the $3,000 for my lease here in the state. I'll have to admit, the hunting is excellent, but it's still a lease and you still have the same bull**** that comes with a lease.

I always apply in several states for elk, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming. And even with that many applications, seldom draw. Apply in Utah, and Colorado for deer, and nearly always get one of them.
The lease system here in Texas has gotton way outta hand. The prices are ridiculous. I am lucky enough to have a some acreage for my family to hunt, but as much as love hunting for whitetail, I would not pay to prices they are getting for hunting leases right now. But many, many people do. It is supply and demand, if there wasn't such a demand, the prices would not be so exorbitant. All states are sliding more and more to the high dollar every year.
