Since it's the only one I've found it is my largest. I think if I would've seen the buck wearin the full set I woul've shot him and had him mounted.

Michael~All Gods creatures welcome... right next to the mashed potatoes and gravy.

Wes,

You have got to have some of the best eyesight of anyone on this site. You know, anybody can spot a big shed but it takes real talent to spot one like that! Great find

I found that shed down in Happy Canyon outside of Solvang, California about 20 years ago. I put it away and didn't find it again until yesterday when I was going thru some junk boxes.

Hey Wes,
Do you still live in the Santa Barbara area? I grew up hunting where you found that shed. Most challenging hunting in the west as far as I'm concerned. If you can consistantly pull a buck off of public in that area, you can shoot a buck anywhere!!
You don't find too many sheds around here. Good job.

When I hunted that area I lived down in Riverside. I live in northern Utah now. We hunted the last horse ranch on the south side of Happy Canyon road. There were tons of deer on those horse ranches along with the thickest poison oak I've ever seen. I got a miserable rash every time I went up there. I had a friend at the time that was working up in that area buildeing culverts and bridges. He said he had permission from the rancher to hunt this property. We hunted there for three years and took some decent bucks. The last year we hunted there we killed three bucks opening day. While we were dragging them off the mountain we stopped to rest in a small draw when the rancher drove down the road. I told my friend who said we had permission to call the rancher over and ask him to haul the bucks out for us. He said he didn't want to talk to him right then. I suddenly realized we didn't have permission to be there. I got the heck outta there real quick and never went back.
